Mayever's Aliyah Chet, Heilicher Minneapolis Jewish Day School's inaugural 8th-grade trip to Israel

As Israel resumes its defensive war to bring home its beloved hostages, Mayever returned only days ago from leading Aliyah Chet, Heilicher Minneapolis Jewish Day School's inaugural 8th-grade trip to Israel. From the Negev desert to Jerusalem's Old City and the vibrant streets of Tel Aviv, students safely explored the richness of Israel firsthand, deepening their connection to the land, the people, and the Jewish story.
From vendors to people on the street—and especially their peers at their Rehovot sister school—Israelis warmly welcomed the students. This connection reinforced that Israel is not just a place on a map but our ancestral homeland filled with people who care deeply about the Jewish diaspora.
Aliyah Chet was more than a trip—it was a capstone to Heilicher's curriculum, reinforcing Jewish values, history, and identity. Through thought-provoking discussions, hands-on learning, and meaningful connections, students returned home inspired and empowered.
One student beautifully summed up the impact of the trip:
"This trip was more than just a school trip; it brought together all our years at Heilicher. It connected us as a class, strengthened our relationships, and motivated me to grow my Jewish identity. It was more than studying our history; it’s a hope for our future. Only 10 days, yet it connected so many parts of my life. Only 10 days, yet I feel more connected to the Jewish people than ever. Only 10 days, yet it gave me even more hope and trust in the State of Israel. 10 days that will stay with me forever."

We are grateful to have partnered with Heilicher every step in the way of creating this powerful experience and are eager to bring more transformative trips like this to life.
As always, if you or your organization is interested in a trip to Israel or another global destination, I welcome the opportunity to connect with you, to learn more about what you are currently doing, and to discuss how Mayever can be your partner in bringing your vision to life from start to finish.
With gratitude,

After the Negev, students made their way to Jerusalem, exploring the City of David and tying it to their Jewish studies lessons from school. Students took a mesmerizing tour under the Western Wall before a meaningful Kabbalat Shabbat against the backdrop of Israel's capital. Also, students paid their respects at Mount Herzl Cemetery, the Jewish State's national cemetery.
While in the center of the country, the students felt the lows and highs of being in Israel. With 59 hostages still held captive in Gaza, students visited Hostages Square in Tel Aviv to stand in solidarity with the hostages and their families. Students also experienced plenty of joy, visiting their friends and peers at the Katzir School in Rehovot, Minneapolis' sister city. We also helped facilitate fun meetings and meals between current students and alumni who are living and learning in Israel, connecting the past and present under shared experiences. And, of course, what's a trip to Tel Aviv without one of the best graffiti tours of the Florentin neighborhood!
